Timmy's Birthday Party and Father's Day Weekend

We had such a great weekend. Most of it was spent outdoors which means Brayden was a happy camper. Friday night was spent laxing and recovering from the last week with students (if you are a teacher you know why this is so exhausting). They are like wild animals in captivity desperately wanting to be released back into the wild. I have to say though the teachers aren't any better! All week the talk in the lounge was mostly complaints such as; "What am I supposed to do with these kids?", "Why do we have school after SOLs?", "Why doesn't the county save the money and close school the last week?". I mean honestly....we have more time off than any profession I know but I join in anyway! Saturday was great. We (and when I say we and I am talking early morning I mean Brayden and I) got up at our normal time, I think his internal clock is stubbornly set to 6:00 am on the dot! When he first gets me up I am all groggy and saying (to a baby mind you), "Don't you know I am tired? Are you ever going to let me get some sleep?". Sad. I know. But once I am completely awake I love every minute because he is definitely a morning person. He is all smiles and wants to nuzzle...totally worth the lack of sleep. Brett always gets mad that I let him sleep late and tells me that he would've gotten up (sure). The truth is, I treasure the mornings with Brayden and I am not always willing to share it! Anyway, after his morning nap we went up and joined the Weismillers for a good ol' fashioned West Virginia Yard Sale. They made out pretty well and Brett and I got rid of some junk and made a little extra cash. Brayden loved being outside and took great naps in the carrier which was a plus!

After a quick dip in Aunt Debbie's pool we got ready and headed off to South Riding for Timmy's 2nd Birthday Party! We had a blast and most importantly, the birthday boy seemed to have the best birthday ever! Brayden enjoyed some pool time and even got a nice kick of water to the face (Compliments of cousin Trey) Surprisingly he didn't seem to mind and even smiled after. Trey apologized and I pretended to have Brayden get him all wet. Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves and I have to say my big Bro and Sarah sure do great with these birthday parties. I might have to hire them on to help with Brayden's. Here are some pictures that capture some of the fun we had at Timmy's 2nd Birthday Party (Can't believe he's already 2!)

Father's Day was technically Sunday although Brett referred to it as "Father's Day Weekend". I'll have to remember that next Mother's Day WEEKEND! Brett got to sleep in as Brayden and I snuck off for a quick grocery store run to get food for a special Daddy's Day breakfast and the makings for a lunch out on the boat. I was hoping Brett would still be asleep when we got back but I guess he just couldn't wait to wake up and see what all I had planned for the day. He played with Brayden as I made his favorite; chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, and hashbrowns. After a nice breakfast he went out to cut the grass and I got everything ready for the day.

We stopped by my dad's to wish him a Happy Father's Day. Brayden was so funny trying to grab grandad's mustache. He even gave him a happy (grand) Father's Day Card. It was nice to spend a little time with my pops. Then we met up with Brock, Brooke, and Trey for a day out on the water at Algonquian Park. Started off a little scary, the boat was experiencing technical difficulty which isn't abnormal. But with a little handy work and crossed fingers we were on our way! It was a blast and Brayden loved the boat and the water. He took a nice nap in Aunt Brooke's arms while we cruised along. Trey had so much fun screaming and yelling as we cruised in the boat. He was too funny! After some riding around we stopped off at a little "island" had lunch, and played in the sand and water. Brett's Dad, David, even got to meet up with us shortly before we left which was nice being that it was Father's Day. We had a few more problems with the boat but luckily didn't have to get towed in. It was definitely a picture perfect first Father's Day!
